Józef Nikorowicz

Nikorowicz studied with Martin Gustav Nottebohm in Lvov and Vienna. He appeared as a pianist and was known as a composer of piano pieces, chorales and songs. His setting of Kornel Ujejskis poem Z dymem pożarów from the year 1846 became a hymn of the Polish independence movement. Also known is his Ave Maria.
