Justus de Verwer

Justus de Verwer (* around 1625/26 in Amsterdam; † before 1688 probably in Amsterdam) was a Dutch Marinemaler. Edit LifeQualtext

He was the son of the successful Amsterdam-based mariner, Abraham de Verwer, with whom he certainly went to teach. Around 1651 he undertook a trip to the East Indies in the service of the United East India Company (VOC). It was not until September 1656 that he returned to Holland, where he re-oriented himself professionally and in 1665 bought a restaurant in Amsterdam. From 1685 he was mentioned as resident in Gouda.
