The original Wasserschloss was built around 1721 by the family of Russicon from Basel. Conference council and chief court chancellor at the court of the Palatinate, Jakob Tillmann von Hallberg acquired the town and the castle in 1737. The castle was auctioned in 1815 and came into the possession of the Wolf family from Wachenheim, which made it a farm property. The moat around the castle was embeded in 1885. The later owner Albert Bürklin converted the castle in 1909 to the residential and administrative house of the court property Bürklin-Wolf. The BASF housing company GEWOGE bought the building in 1964, the municipality of Ruchheim bought it again in 1970 from this. After the incorporation of Ruchheim in 1974 the town of Ludwigshafen became owner. In 1978 the old outbuildings were demolished and a joint house was built.
