Alexei Ogrintchouk was a student at the Gnessin Institute in Moscow and later studied at the Conservatoire de Paris with Maurice Bourgue, Jacques Tys and Jean-Louis Capezzali.
At the age of 20, he was appointed as a solo oboe by the Rotterdam Philharmonic under the head of the Waleri Gergijew, a position he held until 2005. Since then he has been in the same position at the Concertgebouw Orchestra.
