Charles Uhlmann

The son of Karl Gottlieb Uhlmann and Eleonore Karoline Uhlmann was a bricklayer and master builder in Stollberg, where he belonged to the town council from 1880 to 1901. In 1868 he was responsible for the construction of the district, shaft, machine, boiler and prayer house of the new shaft plant at the Princely Coal Mine in Oelsnitz / Erzgebirge. The buildings built by him in his hometown Stollberg include the old town school built in 1879 and the town hall built in 1887. From 1879 he held the position of deputy chairman of the Chemnitz Chamber of Commerce, from 1883 to 1901 he was chairman of the same chamber. In 1887 Uhlmann was deputy chairman of the German building trade fair.
From 1881 to 1901 he sat for the Progress Party as deputy of the 17th municipal electoral district in the Second Chamber of the Saxon Landtag. After Uhlmann's mandate in 1901 Gustav Zschierlich was elected as a new deputy to the electoral district. Edit source text Single-level Edit source text
