Struthers-Ligament
Struthers-Ligament
The Struthers ligament (Struthers band, after the Scottish anatomist John Struthers) is a rare malformation on the upper arm. It is usually congenital, but can also be caused by inflammatory supracondylar processes. This is an additional band between the supracondylar process and the epicondylus medialis humeri with an incidence of about 1%. When present, the upper arm of the musculus pronator teres arises in the region of the neck.
Clinical significance is due to the fact that the median nerve and the brachial artery pass between it and the humerus. In constriction of the interstitial space, the nerve or the artery may be compressed. Single-level Edit source text
