Maurice Binder
Maurice Binder (August 25, 1925, New York - April 4, 1991) was an American graphic designer, creator of the opening of the most famous James Bond films. He also designed credits for films such as Riddler, The Battle of Britain or The Human Pack.
Born in New York, Binder's early work includes the advertising design and catalogs of Macy's department stores. During World War II, he worked at Universal Studios, then became art director for the west coast of Columbia Pictures. Director Stanley Donen hired him to create leading titles for Indiscreta (1958) and later hired him in most of his films. One of them, The Grass Is Greener (1960), attracted the attention of the producers of James Bond, Harry Saltzman and Albert R. Broccoli, the latter contracted to Binder to create the first sequence of the image of Bond in the film, the Dr. No (1962). The distinctive style of Bond's major titles became a much admired and parodied work. Binder worked until his last illness and death in 1991 at age 72. It is currently happening Daniel Kleinman.
