Paradigmatic analysis

The paradigmatic analysis or study of paradigmatic relations refers to the study of the paradigms present in a text rather than its surface structure (syntax), the study of which is carried out by the syntagmatic analysis.

Paradigmatic analysis often makes use of the switching test, that is, analysis based on replacing words of the same type with each other to appreciate connotation changes. Definition of terms

In semiotics, the sign is one of the fundamental bricks used to construct meaning. Meaning is encoded by the sender and must be decoded by the receiver based on past experience, placing the message in the appropriate cultural context. The individual signs can be placed together or forming more complex signs, that is, combining them linguistically: groups of sounds form words, groups of words form sentences, sentences form narratives, etc. The constructed signs are called "phrases" and each collection of them can be a "paradigm".
