Hemerodromes


The Hemerodromos was a daylifter or courier in ancient Greece.

The term (Greek ἡμεροδρόμος), Pl. Hemerodromen or Hemerodromoi, also Hemerodromi, is composed of the Greek words for "Tag" and "Lauf"

Hemerodromes, as experienced high-runners, were able to travel long distances (mostly) within a day to deliver important news in the shortest possible time.
