Bobby Wanzer


Robert "Bobby" Wanzer (born June 4, 1921 in New York City, Germany) was a US American basketball player. Between 1948 and 1957 he played in the US-Profiliga NBA for the Rochester Royals team. Wanzer was 1.83 m tall and played on the guard's position. The Backcourt duo from Wanzer and Bob Davies led the Royals to the NBA Championship in 1951. For his career, Wanzer was admitted to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1987.

Between 1943 and 1946, also during the Second World War, Wanzer served with the US Marines. He then became a basketball professional in the newly established NBA league. Wanzer was the first NBA player to hit more than 90% of the free-throw. From 1955 he took over the office of the playmaker at the Royals.
