Ana María Norbis


Ana María Norbis Palmieri (August 15, 1947, Paysandú, Uruguay) is an Uruguayan swimmer who competed internationally.

At age 18, Norbis won gold medals at the 1966 South American Swimming Championships in the 100 and 200 meter chest trials.

In the 1967 Pan American Games, he won the silver medal in 100 meters chest and bronze in the 200 meters chest and relays of 4 x 100 meters combined.

At the 1968 Olympic Games, where Norbis was Uruguay's flag-bearer in the inaugural parade, he took eighth place in the 100 and 200 meter chest tests and was sixth in the 4 x 100 meter relay semifinals combined. The 100 meter chest test was released in 1968; Norbis won the Olympic record in the first round (1'17.4) and semifinal (1'16.7), but in the final recorded 1'17.3 and Yugoslav Ðurđica Bjedov lowered the record in a second. p>

After suffering the height of Mexico City during the Olympic event and disenchanting with high competition, Norbis withdrew from the activity at the young age of 21. It was named in the celebration ceremony of the 100 years of the celestial t-shirt.
