The III Bolivarian Beach Games were held in Iquique, capital of the Tarapacá Region, in the North of Chile from November 24 to December 3, 2016.
Applications Headquarters designationIn December 2014, the Sports Organization of South America (Odesur) announced to Santiago as host of the South American Youth Games of 2017, and a press conference was made known the election of Vargas as the stage for the realization of the III Bolivarian Beach Games.
Chile postulated as a candidate with the state Vargas, and the Bolivarian Sports Organization (Odebo) confirmed as the Venezuelan region as the venue for the event. However, Venezuela had to fulfill a formalism: to deliver on a set date, a letter with the presidential commitment to the games, a missive that was delivered after the deadline and, as stipulated in Huanchaco, during the second edition of the games, now Chile had a deadline to deliver the letter with the presidential commitment, which did happen, so in March 2015 Iquique became the new venue for the III Bolivarian Beach Games.
On September 15, the Bolivarian Flame was lit in the Olympic Park San Borja de Lima, which will arrive in Iquique for the opening of the Games. sports

The broadcast of the event in Chile is run by the Olympic Sport Channel, the local RTC channel and streamed from the official website of the event www.iquique2016.org.
