Rohatyn

Rohatyn is a city located on the Gnila Lipa River in the Rohatyn Raion of the Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast of Ukraine. Its population according to the census of 2013 is of 8,700 people.
This city for the first time is mentioned in a document in 1184 as part of the Principality of Galitzia-Volynia. In 1415 he obtained the Law of Magdeburg. Between 1772 and 1918 it was part of the Kingdom of Galitzia and Lodomeria included within the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
The city stands out for mining, its abundant forests, monuments and artistic streets.
A famous personage of this city was Roxelana, who in 1520 was kidnapped by the Tartars and was sold to the Ottomans, later became the favorite wife of Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent.
