A fideal (Scottish-Gaelic: fidealadhadh meaning "confused, irregular", also Scottish-Gaelic fideil with the meaning "unravel, turn") is a mythological evil water being said to live in the freshwater springs of the Scottish highlands. It is the personification of the encircling marsh and aquatic plants that grow in Loch na Fideil near Gairloch in the northwestern Highlands (up to 1974 Ross and Cromarty). The Fideal belongs to the Fuath and is also related to the Each Uisge and the Kelpie. Single-level Edit source text Edit the source text
