The National Association of the Blind (ANCI) emerged in 1975 and since then has channeled the state's commitment to the insertion of these individuals into economic and social life.
Currently, 25,255 associate members form part of the 169 municipalities in the country, where they work to prepare the blind and visually impaired for greater existential fulfillment and the education of other citizens to support them. Of these, 1039 are blind children, all schooled.
There are currently 145 special workshops in Cuba with blind and visually impaired workers in which the main production lines are fabrics in plastic and vegetable fibers, graphic and ropes fabrics, tendederas, flower assemblies and other specialties .
