Receptacle


Apple Bloom. The position of the receptacle (r) relative to the ovary in three types of flowers. For other uses of this term, see receiver.

In Botanic is called the receptacle the dilated end, usually discoid, of the floral pedicel in which are inserted the various floral parts (chalice, corolla, androceo and gynoecium). The term thalamus is a synonym.

In certain families of ovary flowers (for example: Rosaceae) is called hipanto.

It is also applied to the enlarged portion of a section inflorescence, in which the individual flowers are inserted. In this case the receptacle is pluriƔxico and usually denominated common receptacle. Bibliography
