Realengo de Aralar
It is known by the name of Realengo de Aralar to an area of 2195 hectares of forests and grasslands located in the Navarrese sector of the Sierra de Aralar, which originally formed part of the royal heritage of the Kingdom of Navarre and whose ownership passed later to the Spanish royal patrimony and that with the implantation of the liberalism in Spain happened to be property of the State.
The monarchs were granted the privilege of making use of forestry, livestock and game of realengo to several municipalities, which were pooled together from the 14th century to manage it.

Administration
The Aralar Union, made up of representatives of each of the 19 local entities, has the responsibility to regulate the use of Realengo de Aralar, the approval of budgets, ordinances and contracts for works and services within realengo.
The presidency of the Union of Aralar has belonged since remote times to the town of Lacunza and as such, the town hall of this town is, in turn, the seat of the Union of Aralar.
