Prosexo feminism
Prose feminism, also known as sexual feminism or sexually liberal feminism is a trend within feminisms that began in the early 1980s. It focuses on the idea that sexual freedom is an essential component of women's freedom. The movement was born as a reaction to anti-pornographic feminism, which postulates that pornography is part of oppression towards women (McElroy, 1995). This period of intense debate and controversy between feminists pro-sex and anti-pornography is often referred to as feminist sex wars. Some feminists became involved in the current, not in opposition to other currents of feminism, but in response to what they considered a patriarchal control of sexuality. As a result of this debate, feminist pornography appeared.
Among the women who have defended this trend are Kathy Acker, Megan Andelloux, Susie Bright, Rachel Kramer Bussel, Diana Cage, Avedon Carol, Patrick Califia, Betty Dodson, Nancy Friday, Nina Hartley, Josephine Ho, Amber L. Hollibaugh, Brenda Howard, Wendy McElroy, Inga Muscio, Joan Nestle, Carol Queen, Candida Royalle, Gayle Rubin.
Prosperous feminists maintain a deep distrust of patriarchal society's ability to correct laws that sexually discriminate against women. Other feminists equate the sexual liberation of women as the real motive of feminist movements.
Naomi Wolf wrote: "Orgasm is the body's natural call to feminist politics."
