Cirilo Amorós
Cirilo Amorós y Pastor (Valencia, July 9, 1830-Valencia, February 27, 1887) was a lawyer, jurist and Spanish politician, who came to practice as a civil governor of Valencia. Biography
He studied at the University of Valencia in 1852 and finished his degree in law.
Active militant of the Moderate Party, becoming president of his Provincial Council, work that alternated with his profession of lawyer.
He was fully involved in the Valencian civil society of the time, intervening in various public entities and sponsoring business projects, such as the birth of companies such as the Valencian Railroad Company or the Savings Bank of Valencia, and collaborations with other such entities such as a shipping company or the Almansa-Valencia Railroad.
He served as civil governor of Valencia in 1865. At this time he supported the new urban projects, requesting a license to Queen Elizabeth II for the demolition of the city wall, creating what became known as the Ensanche of the city . It promoted the asphalting of the streets of Valencia and contributed to the creation of the Fire Department.
In December 1874 he collaborated with Martínez Campos, intervening in the proclamation of Alfonso XII in Sagunto.
On February 27, 1887, he died at his home at number forty-six of the street that today bears his name in his honor.
