Andrea Franken


Andrea Franken (born August 13, 1962 in Göttingen, Germany) is a German politician (former Green Alternative List (GAL), now Die Linke) and former member of the Hamburgische Bürgerschaft.

Life and Work

Franks was a founding member of the Greens in the Göttingen district committee and in several committees of the party.

From 1998 to 2001, she was a member of the GAL in Hamburg's citizenship, where she took over the position of the retired Anna Bruns. She was a member of the Social Committee and of the Construction and Transport Committee for her group.

In April 2001, she resigned from the GAL because she did not get a promising list place in the list of the citizens' elections.

In April 2002, she joined the party of Democratic Socialism. In June of that year, she was voted 5th in the national list for the 2002 Bundestag elections. She was a member of the board of directors of the PDS in 2006 and worked for a merger with the WASG.
