Tetramitia

Tetramitia is a subphylum of Percolozoa, protists that during their life cycle alternate between ameboid, flagellate and cysts stages, although in some groups one or two of the stages may be unknown.It comprises most percolozoos , except for the family Pharyngomonadidae, which is classified in the other subphylum. They are characterized by flagellated stages that generally have four flagella, or two by cinétida, with centrosomes parallel, although Stephanopogon has numerous monocinétidas. The group is divided into about eight families and includes, among others, the typical amebas of the Vahlkampfiidae and Gruberellidae families, as well as the pseudohongos of Acrasida.
