Licorea

Licorea (Greek, Λυκώρεια) was an ancient Greek city of Phocis. According to Strabo, it was a place above the temple of Delphi and had been the first place where the inhabitants of Delphi had lived. Its name, according to Pausanias, was that during the mythical deluge of Deucalion, the inhabitants who could be saved took refuge in the summits of Parnassus following the howls and the traces of the wolves, and for that reason the city that founded there called Licorea, since lýcos means "wolf" and ōrýō, "howling". tradition collected by Pausanias indicated that its name derived from Licoro, son of Apollo and the nymph Coricia.

This ancient city has been identified with the town of Liakouri, west of the Coricio cave, where some remains of walls remain.
