Automobile number plates of South Ossetia

Registration of South Ossetia.

The government of South Ossetia, de facto independent of Georgia, issues its own registration for vehicles registered in the territory it controls.

The design of the plates is based on the standard 4-digit Soviet standard followed by Cyrillic letters, with a maximum of 9,999 possible combinations.

The plates are white background with black characters.

Since 2004, the Georgian government has banned vehicles with license plates from South Ossetia, as well as Georgia registrations are banned in South Ossetia.
