A moblog (also in the spelling MoBlog) is a blog filled with content by a mobile telecommunication device, usually a mobile phone or PDA. The keyword is composed of the words "mobile" ("mobile", "mobile radio") and "weblog".

A moblog usually consists primarily of pictures that have been taken with a photo handy and have been briefly annotated by the mobile phone keyboard. Image and text are sent to the weblog via MMS or e-mail. On occasion, special programs installed on the mobile phone, so-called "weblog clients", are also used for transmission to the weblog.

The first known moblogs originated in Japan, as there was the fastest dissemination of handhelds. The term itself was used in 2002 by Justin Hall and Adam Greenfield. In 2003, Greenfield organized the first International Moblogging Conference in Japan. The term was popular in the summer of 2003 by the American media theorist, Howard Rheingold, who called on US citizens with vigilance in the democratic process in the election campaign for the presidential election in 2004.
