Walter Ernsting, also known by his pseudonym Clark Darlton (Koblenz, June 13, 1920 - Salzburg, January 15, 2005) was a German science fiction writer. Biography

Walter Ernsting studied at the Gymnasium and shortly after World War II was called up. He was first assigned to Norway, and later to the Soviet Union, where he was taken prisoner. After being freed he worked since 1952 as a translator for the United Kingdom. While engaged in this activity he had contact with American science fiction magazines. In 1954 he began to work for Pabel Verlag, who directed Utopia Großband. In 1981 he moved to Ireland (Youghal, Cork), but later traveled to Salzburg, where his son lived, for health reasons.

The asteroid (15265) Ernsting was named in his honor.
