The Renault Eurodrive Ltd. is a subsidiary of Renault S.A, founded in 2009. with current company headquarters in Elmsford, New York. The company's logistics center, on the other hand, is located in Rye, also in the state of New York. The French company has already announced the establishment of the subsidiary in 2008 at the automotive exhibition, taking part in the Better Place project in Tel Aviv. For the development of new electric vehicles, Renault has donated a sum of 1 million US dollars. It is Renault's first branch office in the United States since the destruction of the American Motors Corporation in 1987 and succeeds the Renault USA Inc., founded in 1957.

The official entry into the American market already took place in the late 2009 with the import of vehicles of the brand Dacia. At the event, which also included Carlos Ghosn, the establishment of the Dacia Sandero, the Dacia Logan MCV and the Dacia Duster were celebrated. In the following year all Renault models were added. This model palette is almost identical to the European one. The only exceptions are the Renault Koleos not offered here, such as the electric car based on the Renault Mégane II Classic, which already had its presentation in Tel Aviv. Alone from this model should be sold up to 7,500 units annually. However, the distribution of this model is limited to the Californian market only. In addition to Better Place, SAP, Nissan and NEC also participated in the development of this model.

Despite the extensive model range in the US, the annual turnover for 2010 could not exceed the limit of 500,000 US dollars. This is due to the French brand's reputation in the USA, which was characterized by technical deficiencies and poor quality in the seventies and eighties. Thus the term French car emerged as a swear word in this market which, in particular, received its pronunciation when the vehicle was left idle or with vehicles with other technical deficiencies.

The Renault Group wants to prevent a third flop on the US market and tries to take its old reputation with its new model range. Since entering the US market again, negotiations with General Motors have been held for a possible assembly in order to assemble various models for the North American market in a joint venture. But due to Renault's history on the US market, General Motors' negotiations are not taken seriously, as a renewed defeat is feared. This would, among other things, have had serious financial implications for the American company and would also be a further billion-dollar loan for Renault after the AMC. Weblinks Edit sourcetext
