Rokubacteria
Rokubacteria is a newly proposed candidate bacterial cutting edge, previously known as CSP1-6. These bacteria have been identified through metagenomic analyzes of samples obtained in the environment. The growth is made from organic sources, being able to obtain the energy through the degradation of acetate or fatty acids. A unique feature is the coding of multiple nitrite oxidoreductases, probably for the conversion of nitrite to nitrate, with two nxrAB operons present in the genome. Each of the seven bacterial genomes identified encodes a unique set of genes for the nitrogen cycle, so the whole of these bacteria could form an interconnected metabolic community.
