Kryptographisch Primitiv


A cryptographic primitive is a simple building block used in cryptography. The primitives are assumed to demonstrate or refute the properties of more complex cryptographic systems.

Cryptographic primitives are, for example, block ciphers, cryptographically secure hash functions, stream ciphers and cryptographically secure random generators. By means of security reductions, one can prove in a particular case that a cryptographic system / method, which is built up from these cryptographic primitives, is "safe" if the underlying primitives are secure
