Kleomenes (army leader)
Kleomenes (Greek Κλεομένης), the son of General Pausanias, was a Spartan army leader and the great-grandson of King Kleomenes I of the House of Agiaden.
In the summer 427 v. Chr., Kleomenes, instead of his nephew, the still young King Pausanias, led the Spartan army against Athens. He had the task of weakening Athens and delaying the intervention of Athens in the power struggle for Mytilene. Kleomenes fell into Attica and devastated the country. When the supplies went out, he withdrew. Despite his success, Mytilene fell to Athens. Edit sourcetext
