Henri de Lorraine-Vaudémont (* presumably after 1430, † October 20, 1505 at Joinville) was Bishop of Thérouanne and then of Metz. Edit LifeQualtext
He was born as son of Antoine de Lorraine-Vaudémont (1400-1458) and Marie, Countess of Harcourt and Aumale and Baroness of Elbeuf (1398-1476). Already at the age of 11, he was headed in Toul and Metz in 1441. After studying in Paris in 1456 he was appointed bishop of Thérouanne in Flanders.
While his brother Ferry II accompanied the campaign of Duke John II of Lorraine to Catalonia, Henri took over from 1468 the administration of the county Vaudémont. After the death of George of Baden, he was appointed Bishop of Metz on 15 October 1484. On May 6, 1485, he officially took over this position. For the sake of his nephew, Jean de Lorraine-Guise, he officially renounced the bishopric on July 26, 1501, but continued to serve as a diocesan administrator because his nephew was only three years old.
During his office, the construction of the cathedral of Metz was completed with the construction of the choir and chapels. It is buried in the Stiftskirche of Joinville. Weblinks Edit sourcetext
