Tern Portal Gwern Einion

The Tomb Gwern Einion is located next to an abandoned farmhouse, not far from the river Artro, southeast of the shale caves of Llanfair, at Harlech in Gwynedd, Wales.

The not excavated Gwern Einion is a typical Welsh portal Tomb. The plant integrated into a wall, whose chamber was used for a long time as a shed, consisted of five stones. The wall was recently cleared by archaeologists, so the monument is again almost original. The Cairn was completely removed before times to build the nearby dry wall. The deck stone, which is not in its original position, rests on two 1.8 m (unusually) high portal stones and falls steeply towards the 0.9 m high end stone. Only the side stone in the south is in situ. There are many small outcrops in the vicinity, but the area has been changed by land consolidation.

There are other Neolithic megalithic plants in this area, including Cors y Gedol and Dyffryn Ardudwy. Edit source text Edit source text Weblinks Edit sourcetext
