Seduction of Varuna Lagoons

Uprising led by Major General Vicente García González in the year 1875 in Lagunas de Varona, Las Tunas, East Cuban; which had among other reasons the fact of having to leave on the part of Vicente Garci'a and his men the region of Las Tunas (his native city) to march towards Las Villas and to support the invasion of Máximo Gómez to the West. Also present was the fact of not agreeing with the government of the Republic in Arms whose president at that time was Salvador Cisneros Betancourt proposing, among other series of lawsuits his deposition. This affected significantly the already damaged unit among the Cubans and evidenced even more the regionalism that existed among the patriots of the Island. After two months of interviews and meetings the agreement was reached to designate like president of the government of the Republic in Arms Juan Bautista Spottorno and was given to Vicente García the command of Oriente and Camagüey.
