The urban sculpture known as Maternidad, located in a green area, next to the San Francisco Field Pond, in the city of Oviedo, Principality of Asturias, Spain, is one of more than a hundred that adorn the streets of the aforementioned Spanish city.

The cityscape of this city is adorned with sculptural works, usually commemorative monuments dedicated to characters of special relevance at first, and more purely artistic since the end of the twentieth century.

The sculpture, made in bronze, is the work of Félix Alonso Arena, and is dated in 2003. The artist ceded the rights to the City Council so that he could make a bronze reproduction of his original. It is smaller than the natural one and with a great simplicity shows a woman, barefoot, sitting with her arms out towards the child (who is also barefoot) looking at her.
