José de las Casas Acevedo (1926 - Madrid, July 25, 2004) was a Spanish journalist. Biography

In spite of obtaining a degree in Law, he developed his professional career in the world of journalism, which began in 1946 with the newspaper El Alcázar.

In 1956 he entered Spanish television, being considered, in fact, one of the pioneers of the medium in Spain. From that moment until 1968 he was responsible for the area of ​​informative and first author of the Telediario, the decano newsreel on television in Spain, issued daily since 1957. He also designed programs such as A todo plana, Envoy especial y Perfil del la semana ; also promoted the incorporation to TVE and promoted the career of young professionals from the Official School of Journalism, such as Jesús Hermida.

Between 1968 and 1970 he was Director of Spanish Television

Later, between 1989 and 1992, he worked in Antena 3 with the position of Director of Training, setting, as he had done thirty years before, the bases of the new information.

In his last stage he was recognized by the Academy of Sciences and the Arts of Television, which in 1999 awarded him the Lifetime Achievement Award. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Academy, he directed his magazine Carta de Ajust and from 2002 until his death he was his spokesperson.

In 1968 he received the Golden Antenna Award for his work on television.
