Antichthon

Antichthon is an annual publication published by the Australasian Society for Classical Studies.

The magazine was launched in 1967 and is devoted to the publication of researches on the ancient world in the widest sense. Although the focus is on contributions to the Greek and Roman world, the content of the book is much broader and includes the extended Middle East and the Mediterranean, from the beginnings of the civilization to the early Middle Ages.

Research and research into ancient languages, literature, history and intellectual history as well as archeology and the historical auxiliary sciences are taken into consideration. Reviews generally do not belong to the repertoire of the journal, but systematic overviews, which summarize development and progress in certain fields of science or research, are occasionally published. There are also volumes, which are bound entirely to a specific theme. Scientists from all countries are invited to submit their work to the journal. Publication language is English.

The 2011 edition of Volume 45 was introduced as an innovation to provide the articles with an abstract, which is also published on the Australasian Society website and is available there on a yearly basis.

The editors are always two members of the Australasian Society, who are advised by a five-member editorial committee. Publishers are currently (as of January 2015) Elizabeth Minchin and Arthur Pomeroy. The International Standard Number for Continuous Collections (ISSN) is: 00664474. Weblinks Edit sourcetext
