Andrzej Seyfried


Andrzej Seyfried (born July 27, 1922 in Lwów, died January 5, 2009) was Polish scholar, professor of medicine, specialist in rehabilitation, honorary doctor of the Academy of Sports in Warsaw. Edit LifeQualtext

Seyfried went to elementary school and Mieczysław-Kistryn-Realschule in Lwów. In 1949, he completed a medical examination at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań. In 1950, he received the degree of Doctor of Medicine, habilitated in 1970 and obtained the professorship in 1980. He was a student of the world famous orthopedic surgeon Wiktor Dega. Since 1984 he has been a university lecturer in physical education in Warsaw and since 1987 he has been the first dean of the Faculty of Rehabilitation of this university.

Since 1963, Seyfried has been an expert in the rehabilitation of the World Health Organization (WHO). From 2003 to 2007 he was a member of the Committee on Rehabilitation, Sport and Social Integration of the Sciences. He is also a pathobiomechanical pioneer in the treatment of child paralysis. In 1953 he founded a rehabilitation center in Połczyn-Zdrój, and a year later the Sanatorium Orthopädie & amp; Reha in Zagórze near Warsaw. In 1962 he created the Department of Rehabilitation at the Institute of Rheumatology in Warsaw, where he worked as a director until 1984. As part of the WHO's work, he led an international team in Algeria and served as an expert at the WHO Regional Office for the South East of India and Ceylon, as well as for the WHO Regional Office in the Western Pacific. He received a recognition certificate from the WHO for his work and successes in the treatment of child paralysis.
