Talcottville
Talcottville is a small southern community of Lewis County. It is also the settlement of the Town of Leyden.
Talcottville was the first settlement in Lewis County and its cemetery has the remains of that family. William Topping and his family settled in what is now the northwest corner of State Rte. 12d and Domser Rd.
The active businesses in the village are: Talcotville Cementery Association, Fox Den Monuments LLC and Karpinski Water supply, as well as three active farms.
Author and critic Edmund Wilson was a summer resident, and wrote "Upstate: Records and Recollections of Northern New York" (New York, Farrar, Straus and Giroux, 1971, Reprint, Syracuse University Press, 1990), a memoir of his stay in Talcottville.
