José Antuña
José Antuña (Montevideo,? - idem, October 8, 1869), Uruguayan military and politician. Biography
Partisan Fructuoso Rivera in his rise of 1836 against President Manuel Oribe, reached the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in October 1838. Political and Police Chief of Montevideo between November 1840 and February 1843. On the eve of Great Site in that last year, he was accused of secretly dealing with the besieging army to provoke a desertion in Montevideo, so he was dismissed and demoted.
In February 1852, at the end of the site, it was restored to military ranks, being rehabilitated. In 1857 he is part of the Honor Guard of the Constitution and Government, created by President Gabriel Pereira.
