Flag of Aruba

Banner of the Governor of Aruba

The flag of Aruba was officially adopted on March 18, 1976, after a contest involving more than 630 designs. It is composed of a blue background crossed by two parallel yellow horizontal bands. At the top end is a red four-pointed star with a white border.

Blue represents the heavens and the Caribbean Sea, while yellow represents the union between Aruba and the Netherlands and the color of the wanglo, national flower. The red star symbolizes the island pointing to the four cardinal points in the middle of the ocean. The red represents the earth and the white to the shock of the waves on the beaches. Also, the four points of the star identify the four languages of the island: Spanish, Papiamento, Dutch and English.

On March 18 of every year is Flag Day in Aruba. Internal Links
