The static work (holding work) is a kind of muscle work. Static work is spoken when the muscles contract isometrically. The contraction thus does not lead to any externally visible movement.
The muscles perform static work when a certain body posture is taken and not changed. For example, simple standing or wearing an object can be mentioned. As the contraction continues, the muscles are insufficiently perfused. The lack of blood circulation leads to fatigue and a performance break.
Not more than 10% of the personal muscular effort for the static work may be provided in order not to exceed the continuous performance limit and prevent rapid fatigue. Edit source text Single-level Edit source text
