The son of a Landwirts received his gymnasiale training at the Klosterschule Engelberg. He then studied medicine at the universities of Munich and Würzburg. From 1842 onwards, Wyrsch worked as a doctor in Buochs. As a leading member of the Reaction Division, he filed a petition in 1849 calling for a revision of the canton's constitution in the Catholic-conservative sense. The new constitution of 1850, in which he had worked on the constitutional council, largely corresponded to these demands and showed an insufficient division of powers.

Wyrsch ran for the National Council elections in October 1848 and was elected as the first Nidwald National Council by the Landsgemeinde. From 1850 to 1856 he belonged to the government council as a provincial administrator. In 1851 Wyrsch renounced the re-election as a National Council, three years later he was elected again. In 1857 he defeated the liberal candidate Melchior Joller. Weblinks Edit sourcetext Standard data (person): GND: 1053646410 (PICA, AKS) | VIAF: 309637848 | Wikipedia People Search
