Juan José de Caminos
Juan José de Caminos (Rosario, July 24, 1910 - March 30, 1990) was an Argentine politician, belonging to the Radical Civic Union of the People, who held the position of Governor of the Province of La Rioja in the period from 1963 to 1966. He was one of the few radical governors in the province, along with Benjamín Rincón (1920-1924), Adolfo Lanús (1926-1929), Juan Zacarías Agüero Vera (1929-1930), Herminio Torres Brizuela (1958-1962) of the Province of La Rioja in the whole history of that. He was born in Rosario, being the son of José Alejo de Caminos and Elvira Vottero. He married Marta Tala, with whom he had four children. He was an early member of the Radical Civic Union, being a national party delegate for his province.
His election as governor occurred with the prohibition of Peronism in 1963, being elected president Arturo Umberto Illia, with Oscar Peñaloza Camet as lieutenant governor. He served between October 12, 1963 and June 28, 1966, when he was overthrown by the military garrison of La Rioja.
During his administration the Historical Archive of La Rioja was created, through a project of a Justicialista deputy, and the La Rioja state channel (Channel 2). He was overthrown by the 1966 military coup, Commodore Roberto Costa Martinez being appointed de facto governor of the Province.
