Josef Zurkirchen

Josef Zurkirchen (* 1900 in Bessarabien, † 1993 in Schruns) was an Austrian homeland scholar of Swiss origin.

Josef Zurkirchen has been a successful journalist for many years in the USA. In 1965, he came to Montafon by chance, not knowing that he was to become the great pioneer of this valley's home town.

The result of his many years of work is, among other things, the excellent Talismarchiv, which since 2002 is housed in the new Montafon archive of the Montafon local museum in Schruns. The archive houses an outstanding collection of various historical documents on the history of the Montafon Valley.
