Decencio (bishop of Segovia)

Decencio was a Visigoth religious who served as bishop of Segovia at the end of the seventh century.

Named for the position in the year 690, happened in the episcopal chair to the bishop Deodato. He attended in the year 693 to the Sixteenth Council of Toledo, and during his rule the Muslim invasion of the peninsula took place, without any further information from him, nor from another bishop of the diocese until 940, when Ilderedo was appointed. Gregory of Argaiz, based on the false chronicles, makes him disciple of San Fructuoso del Bierzo, bishop of Dumio and Braga, and maintains that he professed in the monastery of San Pedro de Montes; also speaks of St. Frutos and the martyrdom suffered by his brothers Saint Valentine and Saint Engracia, which took place at the beginning of the Muslim invasion.
