Dean Karlan is an American development economist. He is a professor of economics at Yale University, a collaborator at Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab and founding chairman of Innovation for Poverty Action (IPA). Along with Jonathan Morduch and Sendhil Mullainathan, Karlan was the director of Inociativa de Financial Accord (FAI). He earned a Ph.D. in economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and attended the University of Chicago, the University of Virginia and Duke University. and
