Blender (crushing)
For other uses of this term, see Blender. Blender or blender.
A blender in Spanish America, or beaker in Spain, is a kitchen appliance to grind food by getting more or less liquid purées.
characteristicsIt consists of an electric motor in a housing usually made of metal or plastic from where it can be connected by means of a shaft that connects to the vessel (at the bottom of which there are blades in the form of a propeller) that rotates the blades of the same, a whirlwind that draws food to the rotating blades by grinding or grinding them. It has between three and five wide and sharp blades that serve to cut and to mix the food.
The engine operates at many revolutions and can operate at different speeds, as it is regulated. It is an induction motor of alternating current, in windings of the field of stator, generating a magnetic force that is transmitted to the rotor, to a power of 200 W; depending on the make, the blades rotate by the rotating force through the coupling with the rotor shaft, at about 2000 rpm. History
The inventor of the blender, originally known as a vibrator, was Stephen J. Poplawski, an American of Polish origin, based in the US state of Wisconsin, who in his childhood showed an obsession with inventing devices for mixing drinks.
In 1922, after 7 years of experimentation, Poplawski patented a blender, noting that it was the first mixing device to have a stirring element mounted on the bottom of a cup, and mixing malted drinks when the placed in a cavity in the base of the apparatus.
Poplawski, in 1953, during a patent litigation, said that in 1922 he did not think of the blender for the maceration of fruits and vegetables, but rather as a food grinder.
Originally used mainly in hospitals where a means to crush and mix different medicines and foods was needed. Subsequently with the massive diffusion of concentrated tablets the medical use was reduced and spread massively in the homes.
