The Schwardt (cf Speckschwarte) is a designation for a corridor in Velbert (NRW), which is located on the Voßnacken, a crest-like mountain hill, in the building firm Richrath. In the 13th and 14th century, a kothen was built there from one of the surrounding hereditary sons, the present building being considerably younger. This Kothen was inhabited and farmed by so-called Kötten, with a Kothen always more stony than one of the hereditary farms, and he could not hold more than a piece of cattle. The Kothen "An der Schwardt" was duty-paid to the rule Hardenberg.
In 1602, when the Turks were taxed, the Kothen had to pay three and a half Reichstals to Hardenberg.
Since 1707, Schwardt has taught classes for the children of the surrounding builders. Later the Vossnacker School, founded in 1789, emerged among other things. Single-level Edit source text
