Museum of Women
The Women's Museum is a museum in the city of Dallas, Texas that covers the life and history of American women. The museum is located in Fair Park, the place famous for the Texas Fair and home to other museums and pavilions.
On October 5, 2011, the board announced that the museum will close on October 31, 2011 due to financial problems.
The idea of the museum was first conceived by Cathy Bonner in 1996. Wendy Evans Joseph was chosen as the architect in design. Earlier she was the designer of the Holocaust Museum in Washington D.C. The museum opened its doors on September 29, 2000 and is a Smithsonian affiliate.
