Juan Pizarro de Aragón

Don Juan Pizarro de Aragón (Madrid, December 14, 1697 - Madrid, January 18, 1771), II Marquis of San Juan de Piedras Albas was a Spanish aristocrat who served in the Royal House. Life and family

He was the son of Francisco Silvestre Pizarro and Isabel Rubín de Celis. From the low cacereña nobility, his father had been granted by King Charles II in 1693 the marquesado of San Juan de Piedras Albas. He began his court career when he was appointed as a 24-year-old butler of the Princess of Asturias Luisa Isabel de Orléans, being named when her husband's husband and wife ascended to the throne, his Majordomo and First Caballerizo ad interim, since his father held those positions on property.

He married in 1726 with Juana Josefa de Herrera and was appointed member of the Council of the Indies. In 1727 the definitive affection of Felipe V was gained when accompanying this one and the Queen to the call day of Badajoz and Andalusia being named in April of 1731 Gentilhombre of the Real Camera.

From 1736 he was accumulating charges; First Knight of the King, Mayor of El Pardo, the Zarzuela and the Tower of the Parade etc .... When his father died in 1739, he inherited his title and the King granted him the 15th of December of that same year the Greatness of Spain of first class to join him. Two years later he is named his Sommelier of Corps, a position in which he will have countless conflicts of powers with the Major Steward, Duke of Mirandola.

Confirmed in the post by King Ferdinand VI when he acceded to the throne, the - in his judgment - unacceptable consequences of the measures of ordination of the Royal House put in place by the Minister Marquis de la Ensenada make him present his resignation the 25 of March of 1748. When arriving at the throne Carlos III designates to him President of the Council of the Indies, position that will play until his death. Bibliography
