Juan José Baños
Juan José Baños was a Mexican military man who participated in the Mexican Revolution. He was born in Oaxaca, where he did his first studies. He was constitutionalist and head of the Brigade "Plan de Guadalupe", with which he controlled the so-called Costa Chica, laying his base of operations in the National Pinotepa. The movement of Juan José Baños, was one of the few indigenous who sympathized with the Revolution. In 1920 he joined the obregonista movement against Victoriano Huerta of the side of Venustiano Carranza, obtaining the rank of general brigadier with antiquity of the 3 of June of 1921.
During the beginning of the revolution, the then president of Pinotepa Don Pedro Rodriguez was assassinated along with Don Santiago Baños, brother of the still Captain Juan José Baños. Cause by which Baños settled down in Pinotepa and took charge military and politically confronting and driving away all type of bandoleros and outsiders that attacked the municipality.
